Indian Knowledge System
Bharat has a very rich scientific heritage. The Indian Knowledge systems comprise the ancient and contemporary rich knowledge and practices, including Ashtadasa vidyas ranging from Vedas, Vedangas, Arts, Astronomy and Mathematics, Chemistry and Metallurgy (Rasayana Shastra), Architecture(vastu), Ayurveda and siddha, Textiles, Music and dance, technology, philosophy, etc. Much of the knowledge are embedded in the forms of manuscripts, oral traditions and practices. The practices developed by Indians over the centuries were passed on from one generation to another. However, this process of inter-generational transfer of information ended, since colonisation in the last few centuries. In BVS, the dedicated sessions will provide a platform to the researchers, academicians, students and individuals in the fields of Indian Knowledge systems, where they can present and discuss varied opinions and research works in the domain of Indian Knowledge Systems and their relevance in modern times.
