ABSTRACT: Studies in plasma science start well before discovering electron, Later the name plasma was given to the fourth state of matter. after solid, liquid and gas. Today plasma science and technology has been widely accepted an important field In all the branches of science and engineering, The applications of plasma are enormous and it is still growing with cross-field scientific knowledge and technological developments.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Dr. Ramasubramanian is currently working as a Scientific Officer at institute for Plasma Research (IPR), Gandhinagar. He is working with the Multi-Cusp plasma Experimental set up under the Fundamental Plasma Experiments Division of IPR. He has completed Phd thesis in 2001 in Experimental Plasma Physics. The experimental work was done at IPR, while the degree was awarded from Gujarat University, Ahmedabad.
He has worked in Max-Planck Institute for Plasmaphysik, Garching, Germany during 2001-2005 and joined IPR after that. He has more than 45 publications in reputed journals. He has guided for four phd students and many Master theses. His current interests are fundamental plasma experiments, Spherical Tokamak Experiments, spectroscopy diagnostics of plasma. He is also interested in the outreach activities of IPR in popularizing plasma among the common public and students.
